Curtis was born in Yarrawonga, Victoria, Australia the daughter of Carmencita Ojales a Filipina from Bolinao Pangasinan and James Ernest Curtis Smith, an Australian lawyer. Her father got married Ojales in 1982. Her youngest brother Jasmine is also an actor. Clare passed away from a heart condition in 2007, when she was just four months old.
