
The group was a part of Boston's club circuit , being led by Frank Connelly their first manager. They then began working together with Steve Leber, David Krebs, New York managers. In 1972 Aerosmith signed a recording agreement and debuted their first album. The album was then followed by Get Your Wings and Toys in the Attic and Rocks. The album brought Aerosmith global fame and recognition. These albums are the origin of legendary hits such as "Dream On", Walk This Way, and "Sweet Emotion". Aerosmith's initial five albums were multi-platinum. Toys in the Attic and Rocks have been considered as some of the best album of hard rock to date. But as the decade wore on the frantic pace of performing, recording, living together, and using substances began to take its toll on the group. Because of their famed use of heroin and stimulants, Tyler and Perry were identified as the Toxic Twins. Aerosmith Behind the Music as well as many videos released by Aerosmith reveal their relationship. Tyler appeared more committed to Aerosmith, and was displeased with Perry for his indifferent attitude. He also envied Perry's priority of women throughout his life. The tense dynamic between Tyler, Perry, and their once-friendly girlfriends was apparently an important factor in the gradual decline of Aerosmith around 1980.
