Morgan Smith
Graduate of Columbia College at Columbia University as well as Mannes College of Music in New York City, Morgan became a Seattle Opera young artist (1999-2000) and in 2001 there made his professional debut with the company as Donald as Billy Budd. Smith is an established Seattle frequented performer and has appeared in parts in 12 other operas which include Don Giovanni, Silvio in I Pagliacci (title role), Riccardo I Puritani, Peter Niles Mourning Becomes Electra in the musical, and also Count Alamaviva as a character in Le nozze di Figaro. An established performer at the concert stage Smith has also performed in several other productions. Smith made his Dallas Symphony debut with Bach's St. Matthew Passion, and made his debut as a member of his orchestra, the San Antonio Symphony for the North American premiere of Vier Praludien and Ernste Gesange, Detlef Glanert's orchestral interpretation of the well-loved piece by Brahms. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony is also on the agenda, along with the Requiems written by Brahms Faure Mozart Durufle the Masses C Minor Mozart Vaughan Williams and Bach's B Minor Mass. Handel's Messiah, L'Allegro Penseroso Moderato Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Bach's B Minor Mass, many Cantatas, as well as Bach's Weihnachts Oratorium.
