Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY;[1] born March 17, 1988) also known as Grimes, is an Canadian musician, singer, songwriter, as well as a record producer. Initial work is described as "lo-fi R&B to futuristic dance-pop",[4] with influences from hip-hop and electronic music, as well as rock. Her lyrics often touch the themes of science fiction as well as feminist topics. The singer has released five studio albums. Grimes was raised in Vancouver but later relocated to Montreal. Her first independently-based music career in the mid in the 2000s. In 2010, she dropped two albums via Arbutus Records, Geidi Primes (and Halfaxa), respectively. She subsequently was signed to 4AD and became a household name following the release of her third studio album, Visions that was released in 2012.
